Giving Your Furniture a Makeover With Slipcovers

Do you realize that most fabric based furniture is only designed to last five years? As hard as it is to believe, that is with regular cleaning and very little usage. If you feel like your furniture needs to be replaced, but you do not presently have enough money to do it, then covering it up with slipcovers just might work for a while.

However, there are certain pieces of furniture that this is just not going to work for. If you have recliner chairs for example, this is going to be very difficult to accomplish since they are constantly moving.

Unfortunately, for most if not all recliner chairs you are going to have to replace them after they get rundown with holes in them. Although, it is not unheard of to cover them with slipcovers if you happen to have an exceptional shop in your neighborhood that says they feel they can do it.

Leather chairs are another thing altogether. If one of these has holes in it, that is just such a shame. They are so expensive, and so difficult to repair.

More than likely if you have leather chairs you would never consider putting slipcovers on them and most people would also feel the same way. These are several more items that more than likely you will have to buy new to get anything that even comes close to looking nice.

As much as this is sounding like slipcovers will never be an option, sorry to say, we must bring up one more items that it is not a good idea to use them on, which are leather sofas chairs.We can use exactly the same reasons as we utilized above on our other leather furniture example as why leather sofas chairs will be very difficult to ever get looking anywhere good again with slipcovers.

However, there is a glimmer of hope, namely the lounge chairs. As long as you have the type that do not rock or move back and forth, then the old slipcover just might do the trick and reinvigorate some new life back into this old piece of furniture.

If it sounds like the only piece of furniture you can use slipcovers on is lounge chairs, you could not be more wrong. Any piece of furniture that is made of fabric which does not move can be covered with these types of creations.
