Beds and Headboards – A Buyer’s Guide

hen it comes to choosing beds it can be tricky business. The bed is one of the most used pieces of furniture in the house so we want to get something that suits us and our style that we aren’t going to fall out of love with when we redecorate our bedrooms. We also need something that is going to provide us with the comfort and support we need to get a restful and refreshing night’s sleep.

With so much choice out there it can be difficult to find the perfect bed for you, but there are a few ways you can narrow down your search. Firstly ask yourself what kind of frame do you want “ are you going to go for metal, wooden, leather or even a magnificent four poster bed? Once you get over this difficult choice the next stages of decision making are quite easy.

Next you need to decide if you want the bed to provide storage. If so do you just want a space underneath to put boxes, or do you want drawers under the bed, or even there to be storage space under the mattress?

We are almost there in deciding which bed frame you want: you now need to decide if you want a headboard and footrest or not. Many bed frames do come with headboards and footrests, but some of the more basic bed frames do not come with headboards so it is down to you whether you pick up a set or not. There doesn’t seem to be a right or wrong decision when it comes to headboards: it depends on where your bed is situated and whether you will end up banging your head against a wall if you don’t invest in a cushioning headboard.

Finally “ but possibly most importantly “ there is the size of the bed: do you want a single, three quarter, double, king, queen? This depends upon your room size and how much room you want to stretch out in!
