The selection of materials used for floors, walls, roofs, ceilings or other details can make a lot of difference to how the house looks, to the atmosphere of the place and the cost building your house. The combination of various types of materials, whether due to the character of their surface, the detailed arrangement of each part to create patterns or the way these are colored, all increases the variety of choice in the final look of the completed house in accordance with the Probability' principle in mathematics, that we used to study in high school.

Therefore, many factors should be taken into consideration before selecting materials. The first factor is your own budget and no less important secondly is whether or not the material is appropriate for the function and situation. For example, for outdoor flooring one needs to use a material that is not slippery. The other factor affecting the atmosphere and the beauty of the house is the harmony of the colors used. Some materials have limited range of colors. So selecting the material can also narrow your choice of color at the same time. If you are not sure whether the colors will go together, an easy way to check is to put the photos of materials to compare on board. But better to arrange materials in their correct proportions will provide clearer picture of the balance of color and texture. This method is widely used by architects and interior designers especially when designing the interior of a house. They usually use real materials to compare the color since sometimes the color in the photos may be inaccurate and it could result in colors not going together when it comes to using the real materials.

When choosing which materials to use it is important to know their qualities and limitations. Each material has its own lifespan and needs different kinds of maintenance. To make a house a pleasant place in which to live, the owner should set aside a budget to restore the house regularly every 5-7 years, quite apart from the routine cleaning and keeping the house tidy. In this way the beauty of your house will last and be pleasing to the eyes of all who see it. How about organizing a communal activity among neighbors to clean each others' houses every 3-6 months? It is a good way to create a pleasant environment and will also make for a friendly neighborhood as well.

    1. The use of wooden wall and steel bar together with plastered wall coated by mixed materials to make smoother surface.

    2. The wooden wall of the parking of area which is easily visible as it is at the front of the house; the owner used a wooden decoration to reduce the density of beams at the ceiling together with three types of floor and wall covering.

    3. Materials of six or seven different kinds of surface and color, the proportions and composition of which needs to be carefully considered.

    4. The grey color of the pillar and steel bar create harmonious color. Though it looks modern, it goes well with the sliding wooden door that was created in a modern style with simplicity of proportions. All of these give a local feel to the place as a result of using use tiles and wood.

    5. The combination of wooden wall, large tiles, the sides and counter of a polished cement bath tub all go together by using the 'proportions and color' as the heart of the composition.
